APC UK Chapter Celebrates One Year of Purposeful Leadership and Service

The All Progressives Congress (APC) UK Chapter Executives proudly celebrate their first anniversary in office, commemorating a transformative year of rebuilding, service, and renewed commitment to democratic values and diaspora engagement.

The current leadership was elected and sworn in on 29th June 2024 in London, following a series of delays and high-level consultations. The elective congress, initially scheduled for 13th January 2024. was postponed to accommodate overwhelming interest from aspirants and to ensure transparency and fairness in the process.

It has been a Year of Resilience. Results and Renewed Hope. In his anniversary message, Hon. Tunde Doherty, Chairman of APC UK and also Chairman of the Committee of Diaspora Chairmen (APC-CDC), expressed deep appreciation to his fellow executives and party members across the UK:

“Through thick and thin, we have pulled our party together. Despite the early challenges, our unity has been our strength. We’ve reorganised our structures, deepened diaspora engagement, and stood firmly behind the Renewed Hope agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.”

He praised the commitment of the 27 other executive members elected at the congress and reflected on the chapter’s journey — from legal challenges and structural rebuilding to the triumph of unity and credible leadership.

Chief Momoh Obaroh, Secretary of the APC UK Chapter, joined the Chairman in marking the anniversary with a moving reflection:

“I’m filled with a profound sense of accomplishment as we celebrate our first anniversary. Can you believe it’s only been a year? The sheer intensity of the struggles we’ve faced — the ‘battles and wars’ we’ve fought — makes it feel like a lifetime.

And let us never forget what truly brought and kept us together: a deep, unshakeable commitment to serving our beloved Nigeria. That selfless dedication is the ultimate reward. It makes every sacrifice worthwhile.”

Key Achievements in the First Year

Rebuilding Party Structures: Established a more inclusive and democratic framework across branches and caucuses in the UK.

Successful Elective Congress: Delivered a transparent, credible, and widely respected leadership transition.

Increased Diaspora Engagement: Elevated the voice of Nigerians abroad in party affairs and national conversations.

Strategic Communication: Strengthened internal channels and reinforced unity through consistent dialogue and information-sharing.

Vision for the Future

Looking ahead, Hon. Doherty outlined the chapter’s strategic priorities:

Deepening Diaspora Involvement: Bridging the gap between Nigerians abroad and the political process at home.

Building Strategic Alliances: Working with diaspora organisations and national institutions to broaden the APC’s global reach.

Promoting Democratic Values: Ensuring transparency, accountability, and inclusion remain central to party operations.

Appreciation to the APC National Working Committee

As we mark our first anniversary, the APC UK Chapter extends profound appreciation to the National Working Committee (NWC) of our great party for their unwavering support, guidance, and leadership throughout this journey.

We especially acknowledge:

Dr. Umar Abdullahi Ganduje, our immediate past National Chairman, Dr. Surajudeen Ajibola Basiru – National Secretary, Professor Ibrahim Kana – National Legal Adviser. HE Sulaiman Argungu – National Organising Secretary, Sir Festus Fuanter – Deputy National Secretary, Hon. Dattawu Kumo – Deputy National Financial Secretary, High Chief Omoniyi Akinsiji SA Planning & Strategy to the National Chairman, and Mallam Tasiu Mohammed – APC Director Election Management and the entire NWC team, for their commitment to upholding internal democracy and strengthening party structures both at home and in the diaspora.

Your support made the success of our elective congress and our continued progress possible. We remain loyal, grateful, and determined to represent the APC with honour in the United Kingdom and beyond.

As the APC UK Chapter marks this significant milestone, the leadership calls on all members and stakeholders to stay united, committed, and focused on the bigger picture: contributing meaningfully to Nigeria’s democratic and developmental journey from the diaspora.

“Together, we will shape a future that reflects our shared aspirations.”

APC UK CONGRATULATES NIGERIANS ON NEW TAX LAW REFORMS

A Victory for Workers, Small Businesses, and Grassroots Development

The All Progressives Congress (APC) UK Chapter extends its heartfelt congratulations to all Nigerians on the successful signing of the new tax law, set to take full effect from 1st January 2026. This landmark reform is a pro-people policy that brings fairness, relief, and opportunity to workers, small businesses, and communities across the nation.

One of the most impactful aspects of the new law is the complete tax exemption for Nigerians earning ₦1 million or less annually — a bold step that lifts the burden off low-income earners and protects the most vulnerable in our society.

In addition, the law supports small and medium enterprises (SMEs) by introducing a profit-based tax model, ensuring that these businesses pay little or nothing depending on their actual earnings on 50Million naira or less. This aligns with global best practices and will encourage entrepreneurship, job creation, and innovation.

The new revenue-sharing structure will also significantly increase allocations to states and local governments, empowering them to deliver better services, infrastructure, and grassroots development. More money in local hands means more money on the table for the people.

After over 10 months of robust consultations, public hearings, and legislative debates, this law stands as a victory for every Nigerian. It reflects a commitment to inclusivity, economic justice, and national progress.

The APC UK Chapter celebrates this major feat and commends President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his visionary leadership and untiring efforts to ensure progress and sustainability for our great nation.

A better future is not only possible — it is already unfolding.

The Financial Secretary of the APC UK Chapter and respected community leader, Dr. Bernard Doro, has visited his hometown in Plateau State to commiserate with his people following a horrific attack that left dozens dead and many others wounded.

Dr. Doro was accompanied by the Honourable Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Prof. Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda, during a heartfelt visit to Zike and Kimakpa communities in the Kwall District of Irigwe Chiefdom, Bassa Local Government Area, where at least 47 people have been confirmed dead, and several others sustained injuries in the recent violent assault.

The attack, which took place over the past days, has once again highlighted the persistent insecurity threatening lives and livelihoods in parts of Plateau State.

During the visit, Dr. Doro and Prof. Yilwatda met with grieving families, offered prayers, and engaged with local leaders to better understand the needs of the affected communities.

Dr. Doro said it was with a heavy heart that he returned home under such sorrowful circumstances. He noted that the people are in mourning and called on relevant authorities to ensure justice and lasting peace.

Prof. Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda assured the communities of the federal government’s commitment to providing humanitarian relief and working on long-term solutions to insecurity. He emphasised that no Nigerian should live in fear or be subjected to such horrors, and pledged continued collaboration with stakeholders to restore peace and support affected families.

The APC UK Chapter joins Dr. Doro in praying for the souls of the departed and in calling for urgent action to stem the tide of violence in Plateau and other parts of Nigeria.

May peace return to our land. May the families of the victims find comfort and strength. And may God heal our nation.

She emphasized the importance of women uplifting and advocating for one another, stating that gender equality is not just a women’s issue but a collective responsibility. She urged women to continue breaking barriers, chase their dreams, and inspire the world.
